Take a look at our story

The primary school at Kalala Learning Village began in 1996 in a humble two-room building on a small hill called Kalala. Named after Shibu Ejersa — the first farmer and settler of the land, and ancestor of most of the community — the school was founded with a bold vision: to break the cycle of poverty through quality education.

Today, that two-room school has grown into the Kalala Academy of Science and Technology, serving well over 1,300 students from kindergarten through grade 10, with plans continuing to expand through grade 12 . Our elementary school (Grades 1–8) forms the heart of this academic community — where children build the foundational knowledge, skills, and character that will carry them through life.
